About IIHRO
An independent humanitarian organization committed to protecting human dignity, promoting human rights and serving humanity with compassion, equality and respect.
Our concern is the human being — their dignity, rights, safety, equality and wellbeing.
Protecting dignity. Serving humanity.
The Independent International Human Rights Organization (IIHRO) is an independent humanitarian organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights, human dignity, equality and justice.
We believe every human being deserves dignity, freedom, safety and respect regardless of race, religion, language, ethnicity, social background or economic circumstances.
“When we feel the pain of others, we truly become worthy of being called human.”
A commitment built on humanity.
IIHRO seeks to approach human-rights and humanitarian work with integrity, compassion, independence and respect for all communities.
Human Dignity
We recognize the inherent dignity and worth of every person and seek to promote respectful treatment for all.
Equality
We support equality and reject discrimination based on race, religion, language, ethnicity, social background or economic circumstances.
Justice
We encourage awareness, responsible support and access to appropriate resources for people facing difficulties.
Compassion
We believe meaningful humanitarian work begins by listening to people and recognizing their experiences.
Independence
IIHRO maintains an independent humanitarian focus and does not exist to promote a political party or ideology.
Cooperation
We seek constructive cooperation with organizations, professionals, institutions and community leaders.
Every person deserves respect.
Human rights are not simply principles written on paper. They are connected to the everyday dignity, freedom, safety and wellbeing of people and communities.
Supporting the principle that people should be able to live with dignity and safety.
Respecting people regardless of their community, identity or circumstances.
Helping people who may otherwise struggle to be heard identify appropriate support.
Encouraging dialogue, understanding and reconciliation between communities.
Respect for every community.
IIHRO's work in Sri Lanka is guided by humanity, justice, equality and respect. We recognize the dignity of all communities, including Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims and others.
We seek representatives and partners across provinces and districts who can help identify humanitarian and human-rights needs and connect people with appropriate assistance.
Independent by purpose. Humanitarian by focus.
IIHRO is established with an independent and humanitarian focus. Its purpose is not to promote a political party, political ideology or religious agenda.

Approaching human-rights work with responsibility and respect.

Recognizing the experiences and difficulties of others.
